Batelco broadband project is on track

Bahrain-based telecommunication provider Batelco is in the final phase of its $57m project to deliver automated Broadband access to all residences in the kingdom, which would make Bahrain the first country in the world with complete countrywide broadband, the company said in a statement. The rollout of the company's NGN (Next Generation Network) services has already been completed in the Northern and Southern Governorate and a further two areas, Mahooz and Gudabiya are being migrated this month. NGN services facilitate triple play (Voice, Data & Video) on a single line which traditionally only carried voice telephone services, the company said.
