Dubai issues fewer driving licences in 2007
United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, April 16 - 2008 at 10:37
The number of driving licences issued in Dubai last year dropped 43% due due to more difficult testing procedures adopted by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), reported Gulf News. A total of 85,000 driving licences were issued in 2007 compared to around 150,000 in 2006. The tougher procedures - just 65% of applicants pass the driving test - have created a massive backlog, leaving thousands of applicants waiting.
