Mac operating systems flex their muscle at Adobe's D-Day Conference
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, April 16 - 2008 at 12:03
- PRESS RELEASE
Apple products this month highlighted their electronic muscle when it comes to Adobe platforms at the annual Adobe D-Day conference held in Dubai's Knowledge Village.
Joe Sfeir of Arab Business Machine Ltd (ABM) says, "When designing on a Mac less time is spent on technical problems as the platform has much lower support and maintenance requirements.
"Additionally, Mac OS X provides creatives with time-saving, convenient tools, freeing them up to focus on the job at hand and not the technical glitch distractions that may arise.
"Doing small tasks over and over again can really bog down productivity - the 'Automator' personal robotic assistant will take care of whatever task you give it.
"You can tell it to rename a large group of files, have it resize a batch of photos to fit in your iPhoto slideshow, automatically create iCal events, and much more to simplify your workflow".
Sfeir continues that in creative environments, the number of files grows exponentially along with the number of client projects.
Searching for files can eat into valuable work time. Mac operating systems can find and track everything from PDF and Adobe CS files from mail to fonts using 'Spotlight'.
"Spotlight works with uncanny accuracy because it uses metadata such as information from digital cameras embedded in Photoshop files. It also integrates with your favorite creative applications".
Other applications, like 'The Font Book', allow creatives to easily install, preview, search, activate and deactivate fonts - without fear of slowdowns during font installation or everyday use.
The Dashboard application, when activated, provides a host of 'mini applications' known as widgets that can be moved around, rearranged, deleted, and recreated (so that more than one of the same Widget is open at the same time, possibly with different settings).
Live Color is just one of the many 'mini applications' within Dashboard which allows designers to find new color harmonies and save time in creating multiple drafts, using isolated group editing to focus on selected objects.
