This trip reflects the SCTDA's ambition to provide the best possible services for the promotion of MICE tourism in the emirate, and to attract international events to Sharjah. The authority is keen to have key industry players visit and familiarize themselves with the infrastructure and facilities on offer in Sharjah, and is confident that such visits will place the emirate among the leading world MICE destinations.

The visit covered a number of Sharjah's prominent landmarks, such as Al Qasba, Sharjah Expo Center, the Culture Palace, and University City, Sharjah Equestrian Club, Sharjah Golf b and Shooting Club and a number of traditional souqs.

Commenting on this visit, H.E. Mohamed A. Al Noman, Director General of the SCTDA, highlighted the importance of organizing such familiarization trips and the vital role they play in promoting tourism in the emirate, saying, 'The SCTDA is keen to organize such familiarization trip for tourism operators from all over the world. Our intention in scheduling this particular trip on the heels of our participation in GIBTM2008, a business travel exhibition for the meetings and incentives industry, was to leverage the excellent exposure received there, as well as welcoming new potential partnerships,' he said.

'Organizing such trips contributes to the support of our tourism sector on a massive scale, as it creates and strengthens our global communication channels, building relationships and helping us stay abreast of the latest trends, requirements and innovations in the MICE industry while we update global operators on the current facilities and attractions offered by the emirate for the benefit of event and conference organizers,' he added.

The members of the delegation expressed eagerness to utilize the attractive facilities and state-of-the-art infrastructure available in Sharjah, saying that the emirate is well positioned to be one of the region's most prominent MICE destinations.
