GE highlights job opportunities at Careers UAE

The annual event, a platform for companies to showcase their employment opportunities for UAE nationals, is held until April 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

With a current workforce of more than 1,000 employees, GE has a strong presence in the GCC dating from 1930 and has an extensive presence in such diversified sectors as power, health, aviation, water and industrial sectors. The company has played an integral role in developing the region through involvement in various strategic projects for the development of infrastructure, and the provision of energy and industrial needs.

Annually, GE spends some $1bn (Dhs3.67bn) on training and education programs for its employees worldwide. The company also has a dedicated campus, Crotonville in the U.S., where thousands of GE employees from entry level to senior management journey to enrich and boost their careers and professional experiences. In 2007, GE was been ranked in the pole position by Fortune magazine in a global ranking on the top 10 companies for leaders.

GE also concurrently runs Corporate Entry-Level Leadership Programs, which combine responsible and important job assignments, along with formal classroom studies. The rotational assignments cut across different aspects of a GE business including Finance, HR, and Engineering. Those who enter the programs are enriched with a broad and valuable experience in a relatively short amount of time.

Careers UAE 2008 is organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre in conjunction with TANMIA, Emirates National Development Programme (ENDP), Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University and UAE University. The event enables talented UAE nationals in all fields to meet directly with recruiters and hiring managers from top employers. This is the second year GE has participated in the event.
