Tamaiaz was launched by Mawarid last November to boost competitiveness and creativity among UAE graduates and senior university students and support the Emiratisation drive in the country.
The award is witnessing an overwhelming response from university students throughout the country since its launch, with many expressing their enthusiasm about participation and praising Mawarid Finance for this generous and encouraging initiative.
Rehab Lootah, Senior Vice President, Business, Products and Corporate Communications for Mawarid and CEO of the Tamaiaz Award Executive Committee, said the company will continue receiving applications from Emirati students willing to participate in the award until the end of April.
'We invite all students who haven't registered in the award yet to do so during this period, as after registration finishes the judging committees will begin reviewing submissions and will decide which entries will qualify for the final stages to compete for the first prizes,' she added.
'More than 180 students have registered so far, of which 150 were qualified, and this is considered a large number during the award's first year, which shows the level of interest UAE students are showing in innovation during their academic years and to apply this in the job market too.
'From here stems the important role of such innovative, leading initiatives to empower local students and offer them employment opportunities and fill the traditional gap between academic knowledge and job market requirements, which in turn will lead to supporting the Emiratisation drive within all sectors and especially in Banking & Finance,' Lootah concluded.
Mawarid has set a number of objectives that it aims to achieve through the Tamaiaz Award, the most significant is enhancing the existence of local qualifications in all institutions, whether government or private.
The award also encourages initiative and positive competition by spreading principles of creativity and quality, as well as supporting local academic sectors in developing the creative spirit and self-confidence for the leaders of the future by enhancing the bond between the business, public and educational sectors.
The award is open to the following categories: Media & Mass Communications, Banking & Finance, Accounting and Auditing, Shariah & Law, Information Technology, Marketing & Sales and Leadership.
Students have to submit their innovative projects that will be judged by the Tamaiaz Award committees, according to certain terms and conditions set for each category and governed by a special judging process.
Thirty five winners will be chosen and will receive valuable cash prizes and employment opportunities with Mawarid Finance.
The award winners will also receive special benefits when they are employed by the company, including a 25% higher salary than regular graduates and two years of extensive training courses to enable them to get leading positions in the company, in addition to announcing the winners' names on different media channels, which would enable them to enter the job market more easily.
