- PRESS RELEASE
CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La Hotel, Abu Dhabi, has announced it is to offer a promotion for the month of May 2008.
The relaxation areas (one for female use and one for male use) include special showers, steam and vitality hydro pools.
The Experience Shower uses colour therapy and cold and warm jets to revive and invigorate, the Herbal Steam Room exudes a mixture of soothing and calming herbs with steam to relieve and relax tired muscles and the Vitality Hydro Pool helps de-stress the body and mind.
In traditional Chinese philosophy, chi represents the universal life force that governs wellbeing and personal vitality.
To maintain good health, it is believed that chi must flow freely within the body, and if blocked, illness will follow.
The CHI concept is to create a sanctuary of tranquility inspired by the legend of "Shangri-La," high in the mystical Himalayan Mountains. The CHI spa philosophy is based on the fusing of ancient traditions, beliefs and rituals from China and the Himalayas.
The concept was also developed in collaboration with a team of recognised specialists with treatments based on the Chinese philosophy of the Five Elements, in which metal, water, wood, fire and earth are in balance with the positive Yang and negative Yin energy within the body.
Abu Dhabi's new luxury spa destination is the twelfth CHI to open worldwide, with others in Thailand, mainland China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Oman and Fiji, with plans for over 20 CHI to be introduced in selected Shangri-La city centre and resort locations during the next four years.
Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently owns and manages 55 hotels under Shangri-La and Traders brands with a rooms inventory of over 28,000.
Shangri-La hotels are five-star deluxe properties featuring extensive luxury facilities and services.
Shangri-La hotels are located in Australia, mainland China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sultanate of Oman, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
The group has over 50 projects under development in Austria, Canada, mainland China, France, India, Japan, Macau, Maldives, Philippines, Qatar, Seychelles, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States.
