NBAD wins Middle East Excellence Award

National Bank of Abu Dhabi, The Number One Bank in the UAE, was awarded the Middle East Excellence Award from the Middle East Quality Association MEQA.

"We are delighted that National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has been awarded the Middle East Excellence Award in its first year" said Mr. Michael Tomalin, NBAD's Chief Executive.

"We consider this award to be valuable recognition of the overall results NBAD has achieved during 2007 and over the longer term as well, in the highly competitive financial services environment of the UAE. In its pursuit of organizational excellence, NBAD has also been a recipient of many other excellence and best bank awards over the years" he added.

"NBAD's business performance is the outcome of the many approaches it adopts with regard to fostering leadership, developing its people, implementing strategy, serving its customers, constantly improving its processes and systems and pursuing corporate social responsibility. Excellent organizations invariably use these factors as the enablers to achieve excellent performance." Mr. Tomalin explained.

S. AbdulRaheem, Senior General Manager, Group Chief Operating Officer, after receiving the Award at the glittering award ceremony in Dubai.

"NBAD has won numerous awards such as the Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award 2007, the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award, Dubai Quality Award, 'Best Bank in UAE' from Euromoney and Banker publications, 'Human Resources Development Award' from the Emirates Institute for Banking & Financial Studies, the 'Middle East e-Banking Country Award', the 'Outstanding use of IT in Financial Services Award, and excellence award for 'Best use of Technology' from Banker Middle East" he added.

"Since its inception in 1968, NBAD has been playing significant and leading roles in the economic and social development of the UAE, and winning a prestigious award like the Middle East Excellence Award encourages us even further during this 40th Anniversary year to leave no stone unturned in meeting and surpassing the expectations of our valued customers" Mr. Abdulla M. S. AbdulRaheem concluded.

Introducing the bank during the MEEA prize distribution ceremony, Prof. Hadi Eltigani, Coordinator General, Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award & CEO, the Institute for Organisational Excellence, said:

It is noteworthy that the Jury Panel of the Middle East Excellence Award is composed of International figures and experts from the International Academy for Quality (IAQ), the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) as well as the Asian Pacific Quality Association (APQO).
