The 'Viewtyful World' photo contest, which started this week and runs to June 11, will be carried out under the three themes of night view, retouch, and moments.
LG will produce the eight-week contest in association with Yahoo!, the top global Website, and National Geographic magazine which features the highest quality photojournalism in the world.
The contest aims to provide opportunities to explore the diverse places surrounding our lives and rediscover the wonders and attractions of these worlds through photography. LG expects this contest will inspire consumers to explore and capture the beauty around them.
Consumers can participate in this photo contest through the Viewty promotion site, www.viewtyfulworld.com, an online photo-sharing community operated by Yahoo!.
Participants are given special opportunities to display their work to others, vote for contest winners, and win a Viewty mobile phone.
'We are thrilled about the immense interest in Viewty from consumers across the world,' said Mr. K. W. Kim, CEO and President of LG Electronics - Middle East and Africa. 'We are sincerely grateful for their overwhelming devotion to the Viewty. With 'Viewtyful World,' LG will stay close to the consumer and will do our best to provide them with the best mobile experiences'.
Users can also download Viewty widgets - unique contest-inspired mini-applications such as clocks or photos on to their desktop from viewtyfulworld.com.
With three Viewty phones as weekly prizes, two winners will be chosen by viewers via online voting and the best photo will be selected by a renowned National Geographic photographer.
The final winner out of eight candidates selected through evaluation by National Geographic magazine will have the honour of seeing his or her prize-winning work featured in a Viewty advertorial in National Geographic magazine and receive a copyright fee of $10,000 for his or her work.
LG Viewty, now available in 60 countries worldwide, has recorded impressive sales of over one million units just four months since its launch in the European market.
Over the same period, over one million consumers have visited the LG Viewty micro-Web site.
A premium handset, LG Viewty has received highly favourable reviews from international consumer technology, design, and lifestyle media.
As shown through consumers' ongoing interest and enthusiasm for the handset, the LG Viewty is poised to score another success for LG Electronics.
LG Electronics ties up with Yahoo! and National Geographic
