- United Arab Emirates: Monday, April 14 - 2008 at 15:51
- PRESS RELEASE
The S P Jain Center of Management today announced that its Executive MBA students will participate in the first ever, industry-developed course on the newest frontier in management - Enterprise Performance Management - as part of a unique collaboration with Oracle.
EPM is being embraced by firms world-wide as a management practice that will allow them to tie together their transactional, financial and analytics systems to provide them the fullest view of their company's performance - and to be able to meet the growing reporting and compliance requirements that governments, regulatory agencies and shareholders are demanding.
"One of the goals of our Executive MBA program is to expose our students to the most current and cutting-edge management theories and practices, but to ground those concepts with proven, real-world examples from industry" said Nitish Jain, the President and Founder of S P Jain Center for Management. "Our collaboration with Oracle allowed us to develop a custom, one-week course on EPM that will provide the students a solid foundation to the key tenets of EPM enriched by the experience and insights that Oracle's brings from its unique, global vantage point".
"Oracle has an array of programs and resources that we provide to the academic community worldwide to keep their courses current with the practices and systems used by industry" said Mark Conway, Director of Oracle's Alliance for Performance Leadership, "We have consulted with many faculty members and universities on how they might update a course, or integrate some of our systems to provide students hands-on learning opportunities but this was the first time an institution challenged us to develop and actually the deliver the course too. It's an exciting opportunity for us and we expect some great dialogue and discussions with S P Jain's students".
Oracle developed a proposed syllabus that outlined the course's flow, key topics, teaching materials and student reading assignments, and with feedback and input from S P Jain faculty, tuned it fit the Executive MBA program's structure.
Senior executives, who also have university teaching experience, such as Gauthier Vasseur, from Oracle's Enterprise Performance Management Global Business Unit, will deliver the one-week course.
"In 2007 firms like Oracle, IBM and SAP spent over $15bn acquiring the leading performance management companies - such as the Hyperion acquisition by Oracle. It is a growing and important market, and it's important for any business student to understand the dynamics of this market and the potential of these EPM systems." said Jain. "We are pleased to be able to bring this course to our students in Dubai, and I know that they will leave the class with tools and knowledge that they will be able to apply to their own jobs and companies right away".
S P Jain is rated amongst the Top Ten B-Schools in Asia with campuses in Mumbai, Dubai and Singapore.
S P Jain Center of Management offers cutting-edge programs such as a full time Global MBA, and Executive MBA, plus other professional qualifications in Project Management and Human Resources to a wide range of international professionals.
