RAK Airways launches Kozhikode flight, its first destination in India

RAK Airways, the fourth national airline of the United Arab Emirates, announced its first destination in India with daily non-stop flights to Kozhikode, Kerala, known as 'God's own country' commencing on April 23rd, from Ras Al Khaimah.

Kozhikode is a major city in Kerala and has historical importance and connections with the early Arab traders who used to travel to India, especially Kerala, famed for its spices, art and culture. The huge presence of expatriate Keralites in the Gulf region makes Kozhikode a key choice of trade, a tourism hub as well as a centre of social and cultural interaction.

Today's launching ceremony to Kozhikode, was held at the Al Hamra Fort Hotel, Ras Al Khaimah and was hosted under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Omar Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, RAK Airways' Chairman, Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman, RAK Airways and Dr. Khater Massaad, Managing Director, RAK Airways. The function was presided over by Mr. K. Ravindran, the airline's Chief Operating Officer.

RAK Airways believes in providing premium service to its customers, in line with our strategy to enhance customer satisfaction by adding new destinations, increased frequency and new generation aircraft. We are extremely proud to announce our first destination in India (and the fourth in our network) and believe in providing world class services at affordable prices and hence assuring a luxurious flying experience, said Mr. Ravindran.

'RAK Airways offers non-stop flights from Ras Al Khaimah to Dhaka, Colombo, Chittagong and now to Kozhikode. We are committed to expand our network both regionally and internationally. We are introducing Boeing 757 aircraft, with a passenger capacity of 194, of which 174 in economy and 20 in business class. Our flight departs Ras Al Khaimah at 0340 hours and arrive Kozhikode at 0900 hours.'

The return flight departs Kozhikode at 1000 hours and arrive Ras Al Khaimah at 1230 hours. From Ras Al Khaimah, Economy class passengers can carry 40 kg checked baggage while Premium class passengers are offered 50 kg. Additionally, they have the normal hand baggage allowance.

RAK Airways will position 'Malayalam' speaking cabin crew to the comfort of ethnic language speakers.

Free transportation is available between Ras Al Khaimah airport and other UAE locations viz. Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.
