The efficiency of the project's pace reflects SNASCO's commitment to on-schedule delivery and to meeting its obligation towards its customers and investors.

The contract for the infrastructural phase of the project was won by top contracting firm, Darwish Engineering Emirates, in October last year, and is progressing on schedule.

The entire infrastructure for the first phase of the project is expected to be finalized toward the end of 2008.

Dr. Omar Al Mushaabi, General Manager of SNASCO and Managing Director of the SIC, said,

'There is a tremendous amount happening on site at the moment, and it is encouraging to see how quickly the project is progressing. We are very pleased with the service we've received from our contractors, and are confident that future phases of the project will run equally smoothly'.

Excavation and reclamation works have progressed significantly, paving the way for roadworks to begin within a matter of weeks. According to Dr. Al Mushaabi, the roadworks are scheduled to commence at the end of this month. 'The roadworks form a critical part of the overall infrastructure for the project, and having reached this point is a major milestone in the overall development of the SIC,' he said.

Work on the project's sewage and sanitation network and a storm water runoff and drinking water network are also currently underway.

Meanwhile, the offices for the consulting contractor are ready for occupation, providing a centre from which our group of specialist professionals can control the entire site.

'Having the consulting team of on the site around the clock ensures that everything progresses well, and that every aspect of the project is correctly monitored at every step,' said Al Mushaabi. 'We are committed to seeing this project through as efficiently as possible, and to maitaining the current rate of progress, so that the project is completed and delivered on schedule and to the highest of standards'.

The SIC project holds a great deal of significance for the emirate of Sharjah, where it is expected to play a major role in the emirate's continued economic expansion.

The project will serve as a commercial hub for a number of the emirate's main industries, and will be equipped with all the necessary resources to ensure the smooth operation of logistics and other shipping-related businesses in particular.

In addition to commercial and industrial facilities, the SIC will include a number of residential units, hotels and entertainment facilities.
