'We are happy and proud to once again win the prestigious VB 100 award from Virus Bulletin, one of the most respected independent global anti-virus testing organizations. ESET delivers the most advanced proactive technology for combating malware in a fast and easy-to-use product, and it's an honor to be distinguished as the leader in Virus Bulletin's In-the-Wild tests,'
said Neo Neophytou, Managing Director at ADAOX Middle East.
Virus Bulletin introduced its first VB100 award in 1998. In order to display the VB100 logo, an antivirus product must meet two criteria: (1) Demonstrate it detects all 'In-the-Wild' viruses during both on-demand and on-access scanning; and, (2) Generate no false positives when scanning a set of clean files.
'The installation was one of the most straightforward, with a simple 'continue' prompt and no reboot, and with ample configuration and typically zippy scanning speeds. Testing took barely any time at all.' wrote John Hawes of Virus Bulletin. ' Detection was as flawless as usual, with nothing missed across any of the sets, and ESET continues its lengthy run of success with another VB100 award.'
Since the inception of VB100 awards in 1998, ESET NOD32 Antivirus boasts a success rate of 96 percent - the industry's highest. Most antivirus vendors have success ratios in the 50 - 75 percent range.
'We're pleased to learn that we detected 100% of viruses across the board, including in-the-wild, worms and bots, polymorphic, and file infector viruses,' said Anton Zajac, CEO of ESET, LLC. '49 VB100 awards is very impressive, and a testament to our advanced heuristics, research and development teams.' As threats multiply exponentially in both numbers and sophistication, ESET will continue to stay one step ahead, protecting users from future threats before they emerge.'
ESET NOD32 Antivirus is powered by ThreatSense® technology, an advanced heuristics engine that enables proactive detection of malware not covered by even the most frequently updated signature-based products. Unlike traditional solutions, ESET NOD32 Antivirus decodes and analyzes executable code in real-time, using an emulated environment. By allowing malware to execute in a secure virtual world, ESET is able to clearly differentiate between benign files and even the most sophisticated and cleverly-disguised malware.
