DTCM briefs world HR experts on Dubai

Mr. Hamad M bin Mejren, Director Missions, DTCM presented factors that make Dubai a leading business and leisure destination across the globe.

Making a presentation on Dubai before top HR experts of the world on the second day of
Beiersdorf AG Global Human Resources Congress, bin Mejran said that Dubai is a model for the world in its development and growth.

He said HR is not the only sector that selected this iconic city for such an important global event but the leading architects from around the world consider Dubai's sprouting modern buildings to be remarkable.

He said that Dubai is upbeat & exciting where one witnesses energetic cosmopolitan lifestyle and an entrepreneurial spirit with deep insight to the cultural and traditional local style. From the timeless tranquility of the desert to the lively bustle of the souk, Dubai offers a kaleidoscope of attractions for visitors.

Mr. Hamad M bin Mejren said that DTCM is making efforts to sell Dubai as an exclusive brand and realize the ambitious target of hosting 10 million visitors by 2010 and 15 million by 2015 on its soil.

He said the number of visitors to this dream destination is gradually increasing as
Dubai airport received 34.34 million passengers in 2007 against 28.78 million arrived in 2006. Similarly the average room occupancy last year was over 82.3 % whereas the occupancy rate exceeded 90 % during the summer months in beach hotels.

Dubai hotels extended hospitality to 7 million guests in 2007, earning over Dhs13.262m. He said the efforts were being made to put in place all the necessary infrastructure and accommodation facilities to meet the future needs and to ensure that Dubai transforms into number one tourism and leisure destination across the globe in shortest possible time.
