  • PRESS RELEASE

His Excellency Tarek Lootah, Director-General - Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MSFNCA), received HE Low Pit Chen, Charge d'Affaires of Singapore to the UAE at MSFNCA office in Dubai.

During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations and means to expand cooperation in vital areas.

In this context, they both agreed to build on the progress generated from the reciprocal visits of Senior Minister and former Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong to the UAE and Minister of State for FNC Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash to Singapore last year.

HE Lootah also elaborated on the FNC first historic elections that took place in the UAE in December 2006.

HE described how this precedent represents the first milestone of the plan announced by President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan during his address on the 34th anniversary of the establishment of the Union.

He added that the plan aims at gradually improving the scope of political participation in the country.

This is being brought about through awareness programs and greater coordination between the government and the FNC in reviewing draft legislations.

HE Lootah also touched on the UAE's government strategy launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai last year.

The strategy is comprised of polices addressing comprehensive sustainable development through out all the Emirates.
