SCTDA honours sponsors and media representatives of Formula 2000

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority recently held a gala dinner at the Oceanic Hotel, Khorfakkan, to honour the sponsors and media representatives who participated in the Formula 2000 President's Cup Powerboat Championship for their outstanding contributions toward making the event a resounding success.

In his statement on this occasion, SCTDA Chairman, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, said: "I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who contributed by supporting and sponsoring this premier sporting event, namely, the event sponsors and the media representatives who covered it. This event has significantly contributed to the achievement of our promotional objectives for the emirate of Sharjah, which has become a prominent destination on the local and international levels".

He added that the SCTDA's strategies to achieve a substantial growth in tourism and trade sectors are in line with the vision and directions of H.H Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who is an avidly supporter of the SCTDA's initiatives.

"The decision to host this premier sporting event in Khorfakkhan is part of our promotional scheme, which includes highlighting the most important tourist attractions in Sharjah. The extensive media coverage of the event has helped to introduce the city of Khorfakkan locally and regionally, thereby achieving this goal," he added.

Speaking on the role that played by the SCTDA in setting and implementing well researched plans to promote the tourist landmarks in the emirate, the SCTDA's Chairman commented, "The SCTDA has adopted an effective strategy for achieving sustainable tourism growth in Sharjah. This plan focuses on promoting the existing uniqueness of the emirate and creating more tourist attractions by such methods as hosting and organizing a diverse spectrum of activities and events, with the aim of augmenting the emirate's position on the world tourism map."

The SCTDA's organization of the final round of the Formula 2000 President's Cup Powerboat Championship in Khorfakkan resulted in a tremendous success for the emirate in terms of public interest and media attention at both the local and international levels. The event attracted over 20.000 visitors.
