DBWC participates in Kuwait WIEF Businesswomen Forum

Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), a body that functions under the aegis of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), participated at the WIEF Businesswomen Forum at J W Marriot Hotel, Kuwait.

The event held alongside the Fourth World Islamic Economic Forum, hosted by the State of Kuwait, from April 29 to May 1, 2008, under the slogan - Islamic Countries: Partners in Global Development.

Mrs. Raja Easa Al Gurg, DBWC President, emphasized the importance of WIEF businesswomen in enhancing cooperative relationships between businesswomen of different countries and organizations. She dealt with the subject of increasing women's productivity.

Participating in the forum with Mrs. Faiza Al Sayed, DBWC Vice President, and DBWC Board Members, Mrs. Kaltham Abdullah, Mrs. Khawlah Lootah and Mrs. Sofia Saleh, Mrs. Raja Easa Al Gurg said that "this forum highlights the different issues and challenges businesswomen face nowadays, like investment opportunities and other projects in which they can positively participate."

The WIEF Businesswomen Forum opening session starts with a welcoming speech by H.H. Shaikha Hessah Saad Al-Abdullah Al Salim Al-Sabah, Chairman, President of Council of Arab Business Women. Then Mrs. Raja Easa Al Gurg will submit during the first plenary, her working paper which discusses igniting the spirit of entrepreneurship in women globally in for-profit and non-profit ventures, the development of new products and services and creating new markets, since businesses owned by women are increasing rapidly.

Mrs. Raja Easa Al Gurg will also discuss the obstacles and challenges facing women when creating and growing their own businesses. The importance of networking and tapping personal entrepreneurial potential and issues enabling women to act on their dreams and ambitions will be discussed as well.

The WIEF Businesswomen Forum is taking place to coincide with the Fourth World Islamic Economic Forum, hosted by the Government of the State of Kuwait under the Patronage of H. H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, and organized by WIEF Businesswomen Network. It is supported by The Council of Arab Businesswomen and The Kuwait Businesswomen Committee.

About the Dubai Business Women Council:
Its mission is to proactively encourage business and professional women in Dubai to participate in a variety of business segments in order to enhance the contribution, productivity and activity of business and professional women locally and internationally.
