Global marine terminal operator DP World has collected two awards at the prestigious Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA), presented at a gala dinner ceremony at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore.

The annual event is organised by the newspaper Cargonews Asia.

More than 12,200 of its readers were polled to select the companies they considered the best in the 42 awards categories.

DP World Jebel Ali won Best Seaport in the Middle East for the 14th consecutive year, while DP World's Asia Container Terminal Ltd (ACT) in Hong Kong won the Best Container Terminal - Asia under 4m TEUs per annum award for the first time. Last year DP World's Container Terminal 3 (CT3), Hong Kong collected the award.

On receiving the award, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of DP World's UAE region, Mohammed Al Muallem said, "We are delighted that our Jebel Ali facility has once again been acknowledged as the region's leader. This is a testament to the DP World people's constant focus on excellent service and going the extra mile to meet customers' ever-expanding needs".

Senior Vice President and Managing Director of DP World's Asia Pacific region, Peter Wong said, "We are proud that our second Hong Kong terminal ACT has been recognised as a leader and look forward to earning our customers' votes into the future. This award build's on the recognition our other Hong Kong terminal, CT3, achieved in the awards last year".

The Cargonews 2008 Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards have been running for 22 years and have long been established as the industry's top accolade for excellence within Asia.
