The adoption of the new ISP strategy will help Omantel respond to the changing demands within its business and consumer segments. Omantel will be the first and only telecoms operator in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) to be able to offer speeds of up to 16 Mbps to its business ADSL customers, while simultaneously transforming itself into a customer-centric service provider with a competitive edge. Omantel will also promote this new broadband service under its education and social program to offer accessible packages for schools and non profit making organizations.

Orange Business Services provides world-leading communications solutions that combine fixed and mobile voice, data and multimedia services. Using the Orange consulting expertise and backed by the world-leading experience of France Telecom, Omantel is assured of a safe passage and a speedy transformation in its journey towards becoming a next generation service provider. Implementation of the Omantel strategy is being supported through a comprehensive Orange Project Management Office program that designs and shares best practices to achieve excellence in the sales and marketing process.

Lionel Reina, VP, EEMEA Region, Orange Business Services, said:

"Change is gathering pace in the telecoms industry now, and new services based on Internet Protocol technology will bring more fierce competition and open up the market. By having the vision to become a customer-centric company, Omantel can further consolidate its leadership position.
