Since its launch in 1994, the Dubai Quality Award enjoys the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who has been instrumental in driving the quality movement across the private and public sectors in the emirate.

The DQA is the single most valuable framework for companies to implement a quality strategy to improve their effectiveness by involving all employees to meet objectives and achieve customer satisfaction at optimal costs.

'The Dubai Quality Award is one of the most prestigious citations as it upholds the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in creating a modern business environment for Dubai that is driven by international quality standards,' said Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development at the Department of Economic Development (DED) and DQA Co-ordinator General.

'Dubai Quality Award has made a valuable contribution to the widespread adoption and implementation of quality tools by the private sector. Organizations that intend to achieve such goals can use the criteria of the Dubai Quality Award model as a roadmap for achieving success and excellence,' added Al Kassim.

The Dubai Quality Award winners are honoured in three categories - the Dubai Quality Award, the Dubai Quality Appreciation Programme (DQAP) and the Gold Category.

In addition, a special appreciation certificate for 'Achieving Excellence in the Processes Criteria' will be presented for the first time this year.

The awards will be distributed in nine key sectors that have a bearing on Dubai's economy - Manufacturing, Professional, Tourism, Financial Services, Services, Trade, Construction, Health and Education.

More than 1,000 officials from the government and private sectors are expected to attend the ceremony.

The Dubai Human Development Award (DHDA) will also be presented and companies that pay special attention to the training and development of the UAE nationals will be honoured.

The DHDA award is given in two categories - The Dubai Human Development Award and the Dubai Human Development Appreciation Award (DHDAA).

The award covers the eight economic sectors: trading, construction, professional, services, tourism, finance, manufacturing and semi-government.

The Dubai Human Development Award recognises the long-term commitment of the private sector to the development of young nationals. It offers them the chance to develop and build career paths.
