Dubai Customs had started to further activate this service at the beginning of 2008, as part of its strategy based on supporting economic and social growth of Dubai. Earlier, Dubai Customs clients had to come over to Dubai Customs building to collect the deposit refunds through cheques that have to be cashed later.

The implementation of this service contributed to save clients time and effort, as they now can have their money refunded directly to their accounts in local banks.

Commenting on this achievement, Abdulrahman Al Saleh, Executive Director of the Corporate Support Sector in Dubai Customs said that the application of this system has had a positive impact on clients, since it helps significantly reducing the number of clients' complaints and visits, and easing the load on staff. The new procedure also helps in the transition to a green paperless work-environment.

Ekhlas Al Mutawa, Senior Manager, Clients Refunds and Suppliers Accounts in the Finance Department at Dubai Customs, pointed out to the importance of this achievement saying: "This action comes as part of Dubai Customs keenness to simplify the refunding procedures. Since the implementation of the new service, the Finance Department has been able to effortlessly complete more than 500 refund transactions daily, and as today we have 5,586 companies registered in this service".
