Sharjah Economic announces results of employee satisfaction survey 2007

As part of its continued development program, Sharjah Economic Development Department has revealed results of employee satisfaction survey 2007 conducted on the employees with the aim to provide a satisfaction index of its employees in all the departments and branches, in a bid to adopt highest level of transparency, identify challenges, create a productive work environment and build employee loyalty that will be the solid foundation for sustainable growth.

H.E Ali Bin Salem Al Mahmoud, General Manager of the SEDD said: "The field survey was conducted on all the employees in the headquarters and branch offices. It included 14 questionnaires on job satisfaction, cooperation with department and branches, the stimulating support offered for employee to motivate creativity and innovation.

"The survey reflects the positive results of the 30% salary hike ordered by H.H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, effective on 1st of May 2007. The employees were actively involved in work and development, responded professionally to the survey and were very keen to fill the survey form. They offered a number of valuable suggestions, as well." Al Mahmoud added.

Al Mahmoud referred to the high scores of some questions, led by "Do you receive the necessary support from your direct manager?" with 90%, followed by "Are you satisfied with your position?" and "Are you satisfied with the cooperation in the workplace?, with rates of 87% and 83%, respectively.

The department received 33 suggestions offered by employees during the year, according to Al Mahmoud who added that they were all positive suggestions, such as the one that was about increasing the training courses and enhancing the career development program which will be studied soon in the senior management meeting.
