Omantel unveils internet Hi-Speed strategy at COMEX 2008

Omantel said during its participation at COMEX 2008 exhibition, main sponsor of the event which launched yesterday at Oman International Exhibition Center, that the company commenced marketing the new Internet Hi-Speed service strategy and will receive the new applications from May 2008.

HE Dr. Jooma bin Ali Al Jooma, Minister of Manpower the chief guest has acquainted himself with the company's latest services, the sections in the stall and its roles, in addition the visitors were briefed with the company's services, its importance in the current era and displayed documentary film about the company's history of providing Internet service as Omantel is the first company which introduce the service in the Sultanate.

Saleh bin Abdullah Al Farsi, Division Head of Marketing and Customer Service at Omantel said: the participation of the company is continuous attendance, which has become an important calendar in the technical events as well as the evolution of the event.

Al Farsi added that Omantel has provided two stalls in the exhibition, one provides various services for visitors; explain the nature of the services and the new Internet Hi-Speed strategy which the company has unveiled it recently, Easy Learning service, Wi-Fi, MPLS, NGN, and Video Conferencing and in addition to fixed phone wireless service WLL. The Second stall for Sales sector provides various promotional offers of fixed phone and Internet services.

Al Farsi said that Omantel endeavours to ensure the success of such events and invited various of companies to participate in such exhibitions due to its importance and role which is being played to acquaint the Omanis with the telecom and technical services and its importance in modern life.

The exhibition organized by Omani for Exhibition and International Trade Company in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Omani Center Promotion Investment and Export Development, the exhibition is considered to be a specialized event in the field of communications technology and information.

Omantel is the current licensed exclusive provider of fixed phone, Internet and data communications in the Sultanate.

This development accompanied with sustained growth in the preparation of fixed phone and Internet subscribers, which reflect on the volume of growth in telecom sector in the Sultanate, which consider being one of the supporting sectors of the national economy and engine of many sectors.

Omantel has been providing the Internet services since 1997 and the Internet subscribers exceed 107 thousand subscribers.
