The new strategy would constitute a qualitative leap in internet services in the Sultanate.

The new strategy would target ADSL internet offering the best and fastest service introduced in the Sultanate in general.

It would reflect Omantel's new approach towards providing quality services to its customers for individuals, corporate enterprises, social and educational organization. It aims at matching its vision of spreading internet services all over the Sultanate with its aspirations to become a partner in transforming the Omani society into a technological environment and help citizens to turn digital.

In order to do so, Omantel is working hard to spread its services to all Omani wilayats (provinces) and establish integrated and comprehensive coverage all over the Sultanate.

Through the new strategy, the company would be able to meet the needs and requirements of all segments of Internet users through introducing of several new and attractive packages, which would ultimately lead to expanding subscribers' base. The new strategy would also contribute to the implementation of the digital society project and move the Sultanate into the digital environment. In addition to the efforts of the concerned authorities would, without doubt, contribute to enriching the society with knowledge.

Meanwhile, Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) plan over the forthcoming stage to attract new segments of Internet users in the Sultanate. It has set a goal to offer Internet users different packages of ADSL service to cater the needs of subscribers, especially after it had launched its big expansions of the Hi-Speed ADSL Internet covering all parts of the Sultanate. It would provide up to 180,000 new lines, thus attracting huge demand. Omantel has invested more than RO7m to provide these new expansions in cooperation with a well-known international company.

Internet penetration achieved a great boom in the Sultanate very recently. Statistics show that the number of Internet users hiked to more than 100000 subscribers with continued unabated demand for the service.

Oman Telecommunications Company is the biggest provider of Internet and data services through the normal Dial-up Internet, the Hi-Speed ADSL Internet, the prepaid Al-Ufuq Internet cards as well as leased circuits locally and internationally. Omantel also provides the wireless Internet WiFi and corporate internet services.

Omantel's philosophy stipulates for the expansion of telecommunications market in order to enhance its trade name in the local and regional markets and to build business development capacities.
