- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Women's College (DWC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent (UAE RC) to promote and enhance the cooperation through the establishment of DWC Friends of the Red Crescent.
According to the MOU, DWC committed to provide office space and equipment to the Red Crescent and will cooperate collaboratively to promote RC related projects and events beneficial to both parties.
In addition, UAE RC will provide guidance and training for DWC students in the areas of promotion, awareness raising and fundraising for the UAE RC.
UAE RC will provide DWC students with the opportunity to participate in job shadowing, mentor programs and work placement opportunities throughout the academic year in addition to summer short-term work.
DWC and UAE RC will coordinate visits and presentations to exchange knowledge in relevant areas
Cooperation between DWC and the UAE RC started three years ago when six DWC students received a work placement opportunity at the UAE RC.
Although the work placement was originally planned for one week, the students saw a significant deal of work that needed to be done at the RC and ended up extending their work placement for six weeks.
The College and the RC continued their cooperation in the following two years, a relationship which culminated in the signing of the MOU.
Maureen Szulczewski, DWC faculty and Monther Deeb, Media and Training Coordinator at the RC were convinced of the significance of the RC having a presence at DWC in order to maximize the benefits both parties will gain from the relationship.
The MOU lasts for three years and was signed by Mr. Mohd Zarooni, Manager of the Red Crescent in Dubai and Jamie Stewart, Dean of Business, Education and Learning Resources at DWC.
