  • PRESS RELEASE

BurJuman, the organizers behind the region's largest and most comprehensive breast cancer awareness programme - Safe & Sound - were dedicated participants at this year's Women's Healthcare 2008 which took place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 23-26.

The exhibition, which runs in conjunction with The Bride Show, is dedicated to reaching over 200,000 women, offering free seminars and health checkups to help identify risk factors linked to some of the most serious health challenges in the Middle East.

BurJuman's involvement in this key event serves to further promote the Safe & Sound campaign, an annual initiative, thanks to the continuous support from its community members and program partners which include Welcare World, Red Crescent Society of UAE, Dubai Health Authority, Barclays, Hertz, Marina Exotic Interiors and Memon Investments.

"For BurJuman, this event is an ideal opportunity to continue to spread awareness about breast cancer to the people of the UAE and beyond. It is estimated that 25 million women worldwide will be diagnosed with the disease over the next 25 years, a startling statistic which emphasizes the necessity for successful awareness campaigns such as Safe & Sound to be implemented worldwide", said Ms. Sabina Khandwani, Head of PR and Marketing, BurJuman.

Safe & Sound leaflets, forms, monthly reminders and pink ribbons were distributed throughout the four-day exhibition, with an aim to inform visitors about the facts of this deadly disease.

The BurJuman Safe & Sound Breast Cancer Awareness Programme, now entering its eleventh successful year, is aimed at women of all ages and ethnicities, and continues to reach thousands of people across the Emirates to spread the message of hope, and encourage them to take the necessary steps in the fight against breast cancer.

All proceeds created through the Safe and Sound campaign will go towards raising awareness for breast cancer, diagnostic aid and patient care. Fund usage is monitored by Red Crescent Society and the Safe & Sound Steering Committee.
