Having just celebrated thirty years in the port industry, Gulftainer proved it had the ambition and resources to continue expanding by not only starting its first venture in the Southern hemisphere, but also developing the general cargo side of its port management business.

Since that time there have been many developments; progress in Moroni Port has been substantial with enhanced working hours, better productivity and improved standards of equipment all making a significant difference to both port users and their customers.

To take a closer look at Gulftainer's operations in the Comoros, located in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Eastern Africa, and to thank staff for their efforts, Director and General Manager Peter Richards visited the island group in April.

He was able to meet with the Republic's President Sambi and Vice President Nadhoim to thank them for the co-operation of the Comoros Government and to discuss the implementation of Gulftainer's contract for the management of Mutsamudu Port later this year.

Mr.Richards commented: "with a lot of hard work, from both our staff and many organisations in the Comoros, we have managed to achieve a major turnaround in performance and efficiency in Moroni to the benefit of the company and the Comorian people. We hope to continue this process in Mutsamudu soon".
