Tanmia participates in 7th Career Fair 2008 at University of Sharjah

Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, has announced that it is participating in the 7th Career Fair 2008, which started Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the University of Sharjah.
Aside from students, participants at the event also include parents, National jobseekers, HR managers, training providers, ministry and public sector personnel and university officials. Tanmia will offer student participants advice and guidance in their pursuit of appropriate higher education qualifications, while there are also job matching activities for UAE national jobseekers and prospective employers.
Feddah Lootah, Acting General Manager, Tanmia, said, "The 7th Career Fair 2008 provides an excellent platform for Tanmia to help students optimise their career development potential. This activity also contributes significantly to our Emiratisation program by creating a suitable venue for us to facilitate the employment of national job seekers according to job profiles that best suit their skills and qualifications."
The 7th Career Fair has been held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council. It has been organised by the Career Advising & Student Training Office.
The exhibition provides an opportunity for jobseekers and students to interact with various training institutes and prospective employers, allowing them to explore various employment opportunities and training programs offered in the market. Exhibiting companies likewise have the opportunity to conduct extensive presentations about their respective organisations, including their products and services, and attract the most suitable applicants into their workforce.

Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development & Employment Authority in the UAE, was established by a Presidential decree in November 1999, to address the imbalance in the labour market, due to excessive dependence on expatriate workforce. Tanmia is engaged in a coordinating role, between national job seekers and employers in the private and government sectors, to facilitate increased entry of nationals in the labour market. The responsibilities that rest with the Authority are: to set up the overall policy of the Authority and supervise its implementation, conduct sustained operational and administrative labour market studies and analysis, provide career counseling and guidance to the national work force, follow-up and evaluate employment of nationals in public and private sectors, support small investment enterprises through the establishment of self-employment projects for national human resources and develop programmes for training and qualifying nationals seeking employment, in conformity with the labour market needs.
