Led by BCC regional aircraft financing experts, the sessions featured Boeing Commercial Airplanes marketing executives who presented on the current airline market outlook, airplane performance, airline economics and other issues. The combination of formal daily presentations and interactive discussions enabled participants to gain the maximum amount of essential information in a short time.
As Boeing's regional-based airline planning conference has become more established, it increasingly attracts senior-level financiers who for reasons of time or travel find it hard to attend similar events in Seattle and elsewhere.
"We are very pleased with the level of those who participated this year. We think it is continued evidence of the growing importance of the Middle East as an aircraft financing center. We were also glad to have a number of European financiers join us as well, since it provided an opportunity for attendees to learn from each other and to develop relationships between the various institutions,"
said John Matthews, BCC managing director for Middle East and Africa.
At a time when aircraft financiers worldwide are wary of how global credit concerns may impact their business, the opportunity to attend the conference was particularly welcome.
"Boeing's planning conference is an excellent venue for financiers, providing great opportunity to get a market update and hear about factors influencing and shaping the market, among other things residual value, market valuation and cycle and the competitive environment. It was a great opportunity to network and build relationships with other financiers," said attendee Jihad Nabhan, senior vice president of Abu Dhabi Investment Co.
