- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, May 03 - 2008 at 11:22
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and Dubai eGovernment have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to ensure that DSC is electronically connected to all sports clubs and sports lovers through its website and mobile services.
The event was announced during a press conference held at the Council's headquarters on Thursday.
As per the MoU, Dubai eGovernment will support the Council's website www.dubaisportscouncil.net through Dubai eGovernment's eHost platform, while also providing technical support and maintenance required for efficiently managing the website and also assisting in setting up email communication for all clubs registered with the Council.
During the press conference, it was also announced that Dubai Sports Council will be using the mDubai service, the innovative channel offered by Dubai eGovernment for communication between citizens and government departments via SMS.
Through mDubai, Dubai Sports Council aims to present a new channel of communication to sports enthusiasts in the emirate that will provide information about various teams, clubs and sporting activities in Dubai.
DSC's cooperation with Dubai eGovernment's working team started more than six months ago when the ICT communication potential of the clubs were uncovered through a field survey, and the broad lines of development were established.
All the Council's work regulations will now be electronic, especially the administrative, financial and technical aspects.
Speaking at the press conference, Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment said, "We are pleased to offer our quality web hosting services to Dubai Sports Council and provide them a comprehensive solution to meet all their hosting requirements. By opting to base their website on our eHost platform, the Council will significantly benefit from a robust facility with round-the-clock monitoring".
"Further, through our mDubai service, Dubai Sports Council can have a communication channel that allows delivery of information to the public, anytime, anywhere; especially at a time when the UAE is seeing major activity in the field of sports," added Al Shair.
Dr. Ahmad Saad Al Sharif, Secretary General, Dubai Sports Council, said, "Our decision to partner with Dubai eGovernment to use its cutting edge electronic services is in line with our strategy to boost involvement of the public in Dubai's diverse sporting activities. We look to benefit from the highly secure eHost platform and through mDubai, we hope to maximise the involvement of Dubai's sports lovers in the various sporting events that are taking place in the emirate, while helping them receive the latest information regarding schedules and scores".
