Dubal scores hat trick at Ideas.Arabia 2008

Not only did the company sponsor the event for the third consecutive year, but also the two Dubal suggestions short-listed for the Ideas.Arabia 2008 Idea of the Year Competition won their respective categories!

The competition, which aims to recognize the most significant ideas implemented by members of the Ideas.Arabia subgroup of the Dubai Quality Group throughout the calendar year, attracts high calibre entries from across the UAE.

Dubal's award-winning entries were:
- Idea of the Year 2008 - Modified anode setting schedule for Potline 1 to 4, suggested by P S Thiyagarajan and Salim K; and
- Productivity Award 2008 - Set winter and summer parameters for all degassers, suggested by S M Ali.

The seventh largest producer of high quality primary aluminium in the world, Dubai's industrial flagship, and a pioneer of employee involvement programmes through its own Suggestion Scheme, Dubal has an established reputation as a quality-driven organization that thrives on continuous improvement, much of which is based on employee involvement.

The company also initiated the formation of the Ideas.Arabia subgroup, with the aim of spreading knowledge and experience successful employee involvement schemes in the Gulf region.

Kalban adds that the Dubal Suggestion Scheme has grown from strength to strength over the 27 years since its inception. "It is nevertheless heartening to see our employees' ideas receiving recognition at independent competition forums such as Ideas.Arabia".

Dubal also won three awards at the Ideas.Arabia Idea of the Year Competition 2007, namely Idea of the Year; the Health and Safety Award; and the Environmental Award.
