DM Technical Infrastructure Committee meets consultants on Green Building requirements

The Technical Infrastructure Committee in Dubai Municipality held a coordination meeting under the chairmanship of Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality with the consultants of the project to study the Green Buildings.
Stressing on the importance of the project, Lootah said Dubai is trying to apply green building specifications based on the directives of the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as per the international standards on environmentally friendly buildings that will suit the local conditions of the Emirate of Dubai so as to keep Dubai a healthy city that follows high criteria of sustainable development with a clean environment free of pollution.
He pointed out that the decision comes as part of the intensified endeavours by Dubai government supporting the global efforts in facing the environmental challenges such as the phenomena of Climate Change and Global Warming so that Dubai becomes the pioneer in the Middle East region that takes this way stressing its global presence in all issues and in all international gatherings.
The meeting discussed the main points of the project that included a number of requirements related to green buildings; especially in formulating the specifications required in implementing the project taking into consideration the specifications regarding the materials in demand in the market and formulating programmes for implementing the method of application of these specifications, in addition to studying the different awareness projects in various strata of the society.
Lootah directed the company entrusted with the project to study the use of renewable energy such as solar energy and other energies and the methods of using them in the buildings.
