The fellowship includes travel to Boston for a weeklong program offered by DHFMR.

The program, held at Harvard Medical School (HMS), will take place from 11-16 of May and will be conducted in association with the HMS Office of Public Affairs.

The purpose of the fellowship is to provide print and broadcast journalists in the Gulf and Middle East region with the opportunity to increase the depth and breadth of their reporting on health care, medical innovation and scientific research.

Ms. Kamel, who is also a practicing journalist, is one of three journalists selected by Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research (DHFMR).

Selected candidates have demonstrated strong writing skills, strong experience and a high interest in healthcare and medical science.

'The selection of one of our faculty members for this prestigious award is indicative of the quality of DWC's staff and their ongoing quest to seek knowledge for their own growth and intellectual development which is ultimately transferred to their students,' noted Dr. Howard Reed, Senior Director at the Higher Colleges of Technology and Director of DWC.

The program's immersion approach will enable the Fellows to interview leading HMS and HMS-affiliated researchers, visit HMS laboratories and see some of the HMS affiliated hospitals and their state of the art facilities.

The Fellows will also meet with experienced Boston-based science writers, journalists and reporters, and discuss the process of transforming scientific research material into a prose or presentation style that will engage a lay readership and audiences and retain accuracy.

The Science Writers Fellowship Program is part of Dubai Harvard Foundation's mission to help drive a resurgence in scientific inquiry and discovery in the Middle East, and lead to innovations that will address the region's most pressing health problems.
