The Waterbus will shuttle in round trips between Dubai Old Souk and Al Sabkha Waterbus Stations.

It was announced by Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, Director of Operation and Performance at RTA Marine Agency, that the Agency is keen to contribute to easing traffic jam which has almost crippled the traffic in Dubai recently.

"The importance of mass transit in easing congested roads has never been more stressed. RTA Marine Agency is therefore keen to highlight the importance of marine mass transport and upgrade the level of service provided to commuters. We opted to provide 24 hours marine service and will save no effort to do whatever possible to develop the service" said Al Hammadi.

He added that the night service, which starts at 12.00 am and continues through 06.00 am with departures every 30 minutes at a fare of 4 dirham per passenger per trip, is being introduced in response to the expectations of clients who need to commute between the two sides of Dubai Creek during that period.

"This step also manifests the keen attention of Marine Agency to explore new windows in the field of marine mass transport services. It is also viewed as a step forward in the policy of enhancing integration with public transport services, as it will complement the night bus service recently launched to provide 24 hour public bus service" commented Al Hammadi.

He went to say that it was imperative for Marine Agency, as an important gateway of mass marine transport across Dubai Creek, to launch this night service such that it will be meaningful to brand Dubai as "The city that never sleeps". Through providing marine transport service 24 hours a day, mass transit network will be further integrated; and RTA will move a step forward to realize its vision of providing 'safe and smooth transport for all'.

Al Hammadi revealed that the new service will run through B4 Line starting from Dubai Old Souk Station to Al Sabkha Station in both directions. The service is tailored to meet the requirements of customers intending to commute across Dubai Creek during that period, as it has been revealed that many customers need to shuttle during that period. "This will further enhance the identity of Dubai city in the field of providing marine services" said Al Hammadi in a concluding remark.
