Daman launches health awareness programme

Consistent with Daman's social responsibility values that entail giving back to the community and engaging in raising awareness to improve health standards of the nation, the National Health Insurance Company 'Daman' will be taking yet another proactive approach to educate the public on the three most common health hazards affecting the population today.

Daman will launch a Health Awareness Programme that consists of a series of lectures held in both Arabic and English to promote patient awareness, self-care behaviours, and informed decision making. The lectures are open to the public and will be held starting April covering, Diabetes, Obesity, and Hypercholesterolemia.

The World Health Organization published statistics on Diabetes, Obesity, and Hypercholesterolemia in the UAE showing a raise in the people affected by theses in the last few years.

Daman's CEO Dr. Michael Bitzer stated, "Our decision to hold this Programme was affected by the statistics published by the World Health Organization on these three diseases affecting the UAE, which were quite alarming. Raising awareness and living healthy lifestyles are vital when it comes to preventing such ailments and we are delighted to be able to play a role in further informing the public of these topics."

The first lectures in this series will be held on Tuesday the 22nd of April at 7 pm in Arabic and on Tuesday the 29th of April at 7 pm and in English.

Both lectures will be held at the Cultural Foundation's Ibn Majed Hall, conducted by prominent specialist physicians and primary health educators, who will discuss the symptoms and effects of the diseases, as well as the methods of controlling and preventing any complications. Health care providers and pharmaceutical companies will provide the attendants with free screening services following the lectures.
