The donation, which was taken from the proceeds of the conference, is in line with DQG's commitment to its corporate social responsibility, while it also provided a humanitarian touch to the international gathering as participants were encouraged to likewise extend their assistance to charitable institutions.

The contribution was handed over to Khalid Al Hilyan, Chairman of Al Noor Centre, during a ceremony organised on the sideline of the 'Idea of the Year' awards ceremony.

'Dubai Quality Group is proud to have incorporated such a noble initiative into the Ideas.Arabia International Conference. It has been our objective to underscore the importance of fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities as members of a greater community. We are looking forward to sustaining this initiative and influencing others to actively contribute to similar charitable activities,'

said Marwan Al Sawleh, Chairman, DQG.

'This initiative is the beginning of a solid cooperation between the Ideas.Arabia subgroup and Al Noor Centre to achieve our mutual social responsibility goals. This was a great initiative, and we are delighted that many institutions at the ceremony were so generous,' said Abdulqader Obaid Ali, Chairman, Ideas.Arabia Subgroup.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Al Noor Centre has been helping children with special needs from their infancy to adulthood.

The ultimate objective of the special care facility is to train and prepare its students to integrate and be productive members of the society.

Ideas.Arabia International Conference had another successful run this year with participants coming from a wide range of sectors.

The event also gathered a distinguished cast of international speakers, who provided critical inputs on the latest trends and practices about 'suggestion scheme', a human resource strategy that encourages ideas employees to enhance standardized procedures and improve quality.

With its theme 'Living Innovation', the event also recognised several novel ideas through the 2008 Idea of the Year Award, which has been traditionally the culminating activity of the Conference.

The Idea of the Year went to Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL), which was also the winner in the Productivity category.

The rest of the awardees were Dubai Civil Defence (Technology Trophy), DEWA (Customer Service), DANATA (Environmental Trophy), DETCO (Health and Safety Trophy), and Dubai World (Financial Trophy).
