Royal Health Awareness Society conducts a press conference to announce "KAFA" Traffic Awareness Campaign

The Royal Health Awareness Society has announced in a press conference held on May 5th, 2008 the launch of the "KAFA" Traffic Awareness Campaign led by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah.

The press conference, headed by Enaam Barrishi, Director General of The Royal Health Awareness Society, hosted Colonel Engineer Khalid Al Kilani the Deputy Director for the Jordan Traffic Institute and Member of the Road Safety Committee, Nicholas Slade Country Manager for Team Young & Rubicam, the brand agency that sponsored, designed and developed the entire "KAFA" Media Campaign, Hussein Al Safadi from Asteco, the main sponsor of KAFA march ,Osama Kawar Sales Manager for Kassab International, together with several Jordanian media representatives.

Mrs. Barrishi explained that the "KAFA" Traffic Awareness Media Campaign comes under the umbrella of the KAFA program that consists of three basic aspects; KAFA Youth, KAFA Children and KAFA Media Campaign.

The latter campaign aspires to spread traffic awareness through media to influence individuals' behavior motivating them to be more responsible drivers on the road.

"The KAFA Media Campaign, that was launched through the Jordanian media on April 30, 2008, aims at increasing traffic awareness through messages from the reality perspective, reflecting the significance of facing the increasing traffic challenges in Jordan by spreading a critical message to all Jordanians urging them to realize the dangers surrounding them on the roads and to be more responsible while driving," Said Enaam Barrishi the Director General of the Royal Health Awareness Society.

"The media is an important means of communication and through it we will spread numerous road safety messages that include dangers of speeding, negligence of seat belt safety, random change of lanes, ignoring "Stop" signs, usage of cell phones and driving under the influence of drinking. The KAFA Campaign commenced with a focus on speeding risks and the tragedies caused by it since speeding is the main cause of road accidents in Jordan, aspiring to inflict the required change on individuals' behavior to limit road accidents in the country," added Barrishi.

The press conference included the announcement of a national march under the "KAFA" slogan, organized by the Royal Health Awareness Society under the Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah.

The march will commence from Children's Museum in King Hussein Gardens and will conclude at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing- 8th circle on Friday May 9, 2008 at 10 am.
