Fire Department Instructors Conference returns to Bahrain

The Ministry of the Interior (Bahrain), PennWell Corporation, Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Bureau (BECA) and the General Directorate of Civil Defence Bahrain (GDCD) announce the return of the Fire Department Instructor's Conference Bahrain (FDIC Middle East) to the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from 17th to 19th February 2009.

December 2007 saw the second FDIC event in the Middle East and achieved a 20% growth in visitors, interested in developing their skills and techniques and discovering what the fire industry has to offer in the region.

The Opening Ceremony was well attended and included honourable guests including the event patron, H.E. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Minister of the Interior.

Other special guests included Major General Abdul Latif Al Zayani, Chief of Public Security, and Brigadier Khalid Al Absi, Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Defence.

February 2009 will see the return of the regions leading event for the fire, fire prevention and fire safety industries along with new developments, hands-on-training (HOTs), educational courses and leading exhibition demonstrating the industries latest products and innovations.

FDIC Middle East 2009 is being organized under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Minister of the Interior.

The event enjoys high-level support from both within the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as from the industrial sector.

The Ministry of the Interior and through this the General Directorate of Civil Defence under the leadership of Major General Abdul Latif Al Zayani has pledged his full support.

FDIC Middle East helps fire-fighters in the Middle East save lives and is the only event in the region to offer hands-on-training in real life situations.

Hands-On Training modules
Hands-On-Training (H.O.T.) modules give fire-fighters real, live training under the guidance of some of the most experienced fire-fighters in the world. In carefully selected venues fire-fighters will learn techniques and practical theory on a range of live emergency situations.

Conference
The conference provides classroom based learning that gives fire-fighters and fire, fire prevention and fire safety industry related professionals the most up-to-date knowledge on topics from fire prevention and fire safety in commercial and industrial sectors, to how to fight fires.

Call for Papers - abstract submittal deadline 30th June 2008
The advisory board of FDIC Middle East is inviting papers to be submitted for consideration at the FDIC Middle East conference and are looking for a range of papers to be submitted, covering topics including Responding to Emergency Incidents; Operation / Incident Management; Industrial / Petrochemcial Fire Safety and Fire Safety & Protection.
