Khalid Bin Sulayem received the Greek delegation headed by Athanasios Economou, President, Greek National Tourism Organisation and H.E. George Costoulas, Ambassador of Greece in the UAE.
He also welcomed Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Maha Al Khatib, and discussed issues of bilateral interest.
'Arabian Travel Market is ideal place to showcase the charms of Dubai to overseas visitors and build new contacts with key people from the tourism sector,' said Eyad Abdul Rahman, Executive Director, Media Relations Division, and Acting Director, Business Development, DTCM.
'The Dubai stand was once again the cynosure of all eyes, and we are delighted to say that the industry's interest in Dubai as a tourism destination has surpassed all our expectations. We expect to consolidate our ties with a number of tourism players at the end of ATM.'
Mr. Economou, President of Greek National Tourism Organisation, said: 'We are going to build stronger tourism links with Dubai, as the emirate has emerged as the tourism hub of the Middle East and holds a prominent place in the worldwide market. We could share synergies, as our vision is to be the tourism hub of Europe. We could learn from Dubai's highly successful marketing campaigns and we look forward to initiating cooperation with DTCM for mutual benefit.'
As part of its ongoing marketing exercise, DTCM is hosting tourism agencies and media representatives from all over the world, including Brazil, India and Spain, in an effort to provide them with a first-hand experience of Dubai , which has emerged as one of the world's hottest tourism destinations, and give them look and feel of Dubai as a brand.
Abdullah bin Suwaidan, Deputy Director, Inward Missions, DTCM, said: 'We bring every year old and new hosted buyers from all over the world to experience Dubai. We work with 15 offices worldwide for DTCM as well as we directly fly in companies from places where we don't have offices. Those groups act as our ambassadors and complement our marketing efforts.'
DTCM also launched the Arabic version of 'Enterprise Dubai', a quarterly magazine, on the second day of the exhibition, to serve as yet another channel for promoting Dubai as the leading tourism and business destination. The magazine is free of charge and will be mailed regularly to subscribers.
Abdul Rahman commented, 'Enterprise Dubai will summarise the key developments taking place in the emirate. In a fast moving city like Dubai, the pace is very fast. Enterprise Dubai is designed to keep subscribers informed of all the important activities happening in Dubai.'
DTCM is highlighting its achievements and future plans at its largest-ever showing at the 15th edition of Arabian Travel Market at the Dubai stand spread over an area of 1,080 square meters, with 132 co-participants and 90 booths.
