UN secretary-general receives Talal Abu-Ghazaleh half a million computers for schools in developing world by 2010

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon recently received Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, CEO and Chairman of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg), at the UN headquarters, along with the UN team in charge of the project for dedicating a half million new computers to the schools of developing nations by the year 2010.

The Secretary-General praised Abu-Ghazaleh's willingness to take on the responsibility for this venture in the Arab region, in addition to his role, efforts and leadership worldwide as the co-chair of the Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID) Steering Committee.

Previously, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh had delivered the keynote speech at the Committee's opening session on behalf of the global business community.

He shared TAGorg's plan in creating the basic Arab 'not-for-profit computer', and also talked about the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Society (TAGKS) that allows teachers and students in Arab countries to use the internet and other services for free.

TAGorg is an international professional services group, that employs over 2000 professionals and operates out of its 70 worldwide.

It has representative offices in Europe and North America and non-exclusive strategic alliance agreements with various networks and individual firms.

It currently offers a composite range of professional services covering accounting; external and internal audit; educational consultancy; project management; professional translation; intellectual property business and asset valuation and branding services; and others.
