300 students to participate in Tamaiaz Award

Engineer Rehab Lootah, Senior Vice President, Business, Products & Corporate Communications for Mawarid and CEO of the Tamaiaz Award Executive Committee announced the commencement of the evaluation stage and which will continue till Thursday, 12th June 2008.

She noted that the acceptances of applicants started on Sunday, 3rd of February and continued till the end of April.

Ms Lootah added that Judging Committees will be formed for each category to evaluate the submitted projects and announce the qualified candidates.

Subsequently, the winners will be selected based on the assessment of the qualified project and the performance of the student in the oral presentation and personality test.

She added that the winners will be honored in an extravagant ceremony which will be held on Monday, 16th of June at the The Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai.

Engineer Rehab Lootah emphasized that the award has been launched in a view to enhance the creative spirit among UAE university students and give them an opportunity to compete fairly in guaranteeing the first job of their careers.

She added that the judging committee will comprise of a group of experts who will be vested in the evaluating process.

Tamaiaz Award has a budget of Dhs1.000.000 with seven categories which are Media & Mass Communication, Banking & Financing, Accounting & Auditing, Islamic Shariah & Law, Marketing & Sales, Leadership Skills, and Information Technology (IT) Rehab Lootah said.

She added that the highest rates of the participants are from the Emirate of Sharjah followed by Dubai, she as well revealed that the IT categories beside Media & Mass Communication have attracted most of the participants.

The Award has received deep appreciation and admiration from a large number of academic figures in the United Arab Emirates as being a pioneering idea adopted by Mawarid Finance. Dr. Ismail Al Bishri, the Director of Sharjah University, has praised the award and the vital role played by elite institutions of the private sector particularly Mawarid Finance.

He as well hailed the initiative of Mawarid Finance referring that the high number of applicants is an index of the increase in the numbers of talents flourishing in the UAE. He as well called on other institutions to follow the footsteps of Mawarid.

Dr. Saeed Hamad Al Hassany Director General of the Ministry of Higher Education expressed his appreciation for the launch of such an Award by Mawarid Finance and the eagerness to attract undergraduates and fresh graduates.

Dr. Hassany confirmed that this award will create an atmosphere of honest competition, which would ultimately serve the educational process.
