Starting today, the study trip brought 25 Brunei government officials from diverse backgrounds including defense, law enforcement, finance, education and healthcare in order to learn about Dubai's economic and social development.

According to DSG Executive President HE Nabil Alyousuf, 'This study trip is part of an ongoing collaborative effort with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore to inform guests from different countries about our experiences, and to enhance the exchange of best practices'.

Alyousuf added, 'Feedback from previous visits has encouraged us to invite new delegations to have a closer look at Dubai's success in different fields related to public policy, through meeting decision makers in key areas that put Dubai on the world map of international development'.

Delegates will participate in lectures given by the Dubai School of Government and by government officials.

According to Khaled Al-Gowhary, Director of Programs in the DSG Executive Education department, the program's mixture of field visits and academic lectures is designed to demonstrate to participants how Dubai is succeeding in linking the theory and practice of public policy.

After the inaugural session, participants were introduced to the Dubai School of Government and its role in shaping the future of Dubai, then they learned about the Dubai Government Strategy and the Dubai Urban Development Plan.

To get a glimpse of Dubai's future, participants will visit the Roads and Transports Authority, and then will meet with officials at the Dubai Tourism and Commercial Marketing Department to be briefed on the tourism model that Dubai has successfully employed.

In a visit that will showcase Dubai's growing role in the global economy, participants will visit Dubai Ports World before meeting with key officials from Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City and Knowledge Village, who will share their experiences in developing the Emirate's knowledge economy.

Senior management of the Dubai International Financial Centre will brief the Brunei officials on the growing importance of Dubai as a financial hub, and participants will later take part in an open discussion on Dubai's economic development, where they will learn how Dubai has succeeded in diversifying its sources of income to prepare for the post-oil era.

Ahmad Nuseirat, General Coordinator of the Dubai Government Excellence Award, will brief the officials about this decade-old program and its role in developing government entities.

The delegation will visit the Dubai Police Headquarters, where officers from the Royal Brunei Police Force will witness how quality principles can be implemented throughout the performance of daily policing tasks.

The study trip will then conclude with a discussion forum on the Dubai Government Excellence Experience.
