NBK to participate in the WEF on the Middle East in Sharm El-Sheikh

National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) announced that it will be participating with a high ranking delegation in the World Economic Forum on the Middle East 2008 to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from 18-20 May 2008.

More than 1,500 participants, representing more than 55 countries, including key heads of state and government, ministers, leading business and economic figures and civil society leaders as well as members of the media will take part in the meeting.

Led by NBK's Vice Chairman, Nasser Al Sayer, the bank's delegation to Sharm El-Sheikh is comprised of CEO-NBK Group, Ibrahim Dabdoub; Deputy CEO-NBK, Shaikha Al Bahar; CEO-International Bank of Qatar, George Nasra and CEO- NBK Capital, Salah Al Fulaij. During the conference, CEO-NBK Group, Ibrahim Dabdoub will take part in a major panel entitled ' Capital Flow and the New Financial Order' side by side with the president of the World Bank, Robert Zoellick and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shawkat Aziz. Dabduob will also participate in the International CNBC Global Debate entitled 'Investing for the Future' during the first day of the conference.

The World Forum on the Middle East, held under the theme 'Learning from the Future' focuses on a series of futuristic scenarios that explore the impact of long-term global trends on the Middle East within a highly collaborative and interactive perspective based on idea-sharing with prominent global leaders. Participants will enjoy enhanced opportunities to interact directly with those behind new and influential ideas that plays a pivotal role in shaping the future. The forum's sessions will also cover some of the latest hot topics such food prices, sovereign wealth funds, and examine the exciting investment opportunities in the emerging economies of the region.

Heads of state and government who have already confirmed their participation in the meeting are H.H. Sheikh Nasser Al Mohammed Al Ahmad Al Sabah. Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait; President George W. Bush of the United States of America; H.M. King Abdullah the II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; President Nursultan Nezarbayev of Kazakhstan; Prime Minister Salman Fayyad of the Palestinian National Authority; H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
