DTCM promotes Dubai as premier MICE destination at ATM

Dubai is highlighting its growing reputation as a preferred MICE destination at the Arabian Travel Market, favoured by factors like strategic location, excellent airline connectivity, world-class convention facilities, hotel accommodation to suit all budgets and experience in holding global events.

At the Dubai stand, DTCM officials have been meeting representatives of global convention organizers and familiarizing them with the unique mix that the Dubai Convention Bureau could provide.

'Dubai has emerged as one of the most attractive cosmopolitan cities with a liberal business climate,' said Mr. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Executive Director, Dubai Convention Bureau. 'Dubai's capabilities to host meetings, conferences and conventions have been proved through several events in the past, such as 2008 Global Travel and Tourism Summit which brought industry and government leaders together to discuss the priorities for the travel and tourism industry'.

The Dubai convention Bureau at ATM is continuing to market Dubai as an ideal destination for the MICE Market, convincing global conferences that holding events in Dubai can provide great value-addition.

Meanwhile, the Media and and Advertising Department, responsible for branding the Dubai Stand at ATM as well planning and executing the advertising campaign, has come in for high praise for achieving the goal of reinforcing Dubai's position as a major player in world tourism.

'We are driven by the mission of aggressively marketing Dubai as the hub of tourism and business,' said DTCM Media and Advertising department 'We use all advertising and promotional vehicles, including DVDs and corporate gifts, to market Dubai as a brand. We have created booklets to target hosted buyers and co-participants. We also implemented an interactive radio campaign with participation by co-participants. The combined effect of all this activity is that the DTCM stand is among the most popular among ATM visitors'.

Foreign delegations continued to hold talks with DTCM official for strengthening tourism links with Dubai at ATM.

An Egyptian delegation, led by Mr. Hisham Zaazou, Deputy Minister of Tourism, met Mr. Khalid Bin Sulayem, Director General of DTCM, and both sides expressed their resolve to enhance tourism potential.

'Dubai is undoubtedly among the major players in the world of tourism, and at the regional level it has demonstrated a far-sightedness that has taken it miles,' said Mr. Hisham Zaazou. 'As Egypt too has great experience is hosting global tourism, we feel there is potential for sharing of ideas and expertise. Our delegation was quite impressed with DTCM's leadership, and we have decided to pursue the road of cooperation, especially in the field of organising festivals'.
