He added that the two towers will be LEED-certified buildings.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED is an international green building rating system that sets environmentally sustainable construction criteria. It aims to establish a common standard of building designs that minimize risks on the environment and raise awareness among consumers of the benefits of green construction.
Khouri emphasized that the company's aim is to achieve the highest possible LEED rating for Connection Towers. Certification is granted solely by the Green Building Council, a nonprofit global community of leaders whose life's work has been centered on making green buildings accessible to every one.
'We are working towards getting the first LEED certification in Abu Dhabi, and hopefully in the process, help transform our building sector into an environmentally-sound industry. We recognize that adopting environment-friendly practices in the building industry now is actually building for our future,'
commented Khouri.
Connection Towers is a 21-storey twin-tower building perched on a podium. One tower will be exclusively for commercial purposes while the other will be mixed-use, offering office and residential spaces.
