MVNO is a Telecom mobile service provider that does not have its own frequency allocation of the radio spectrum, nor does it have the entire infrastructure required to provide mobile telephone service but enters into agreement with exiting Mobile Network Operators (MNO) to provide end to end mobile telecom services to end users including voice and data.

This agreement allows the MVNO to focus on Customer Care, Marketing and Sales instead of Technical and Network related issues.

Globally MVNO capture between 8 to 20% of Mobile subscribers depending on market maturity. It is forecasted that the MVNO in Middle East shall capture between 5 and 8% of the subscribers database in the first 5 years and the activity to generate $5bn for the same period.

'There are currently approximately 360 planned or operational MVNOs world-wide and we look forward to being the first Virtual Mobile Provider in the Region. Being granted the approval to operate as an MVNO in Jordan is a key milestone for us.

This step is in line with our vision of integrating the mobile value chain and to leverage on our assets: distribution, logistics, retail network, brand and our exceptional relationship with Nokia. We are eager to provide Top Class Customer Care Services, innovative offers and more diversified options to consumers and businesses.'

said Abdul Hameed Al Sunaid, CEO of i2.

Operating with the MVNO services in Jordan will open a new channel of business for i2 and will definitely boost even further the telecommunication industry development in Jordan.

'At i2 we will turn the MVNO services into an outstanding and complete new experience for the Customers offering quality, competitive prices and packages.' concluded Al Sunaid.

For the operator, it means a new revenue stream, optimization of resources and quicker execution of its business plan.

For i2, it is a challenging and a perfect opportunity allowing for synergy between its various operations and businesses. For the customer, it will bring different value, different experience and a broader choice of their Telecommunication Suppliers.

Through the MVNO, Jordan in particular and the region in general will benefit from another level of liberalization and competition. i2 is committed to bring more growth into the region and to improve the landscape of telecommunications within an already mature market.

i2 continues to bring in the best solutions for its customers by entering the MVNO space.
