Russia's MegaFon eyes Iran

MegaFon, Russia's third-largest mobile phone operator, is seeking to invest about $4.64bn to build a GSM network in Iran, reported Bloomberg. The auction of a third GSM licence in Iran is expected this year but the tender has not been announced yet. There are currently two mobile service providers in Iran - state-controlled Iran Telecommunication Company and MTN Group, sub-Saharan Africa's biggest cellphone operator.
