Singapore offers visitors 'World's Best' wildlife experience
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, April 22 - 2008 at 11:43
- PRESS RELEASE
The Singapore Zoo has been cited as one of the 'World's Best Zoos' for its "unique approach to wildlife" and conservation of endangered species, according to luxury travel website ForbesTraveler.com.
Approximately 1.4 million people visit the Zoo each year for the opportunity to experience and be inspired by the wonders of nature.
The animals live in cage-free, spacious environments that simulate their natural habitat. Wet and dry moats separate most of the wildlife from visitors, while glass panels are in place for the Zoo's more ferocious residents.
In 2007, GCC markets overall saw an increase in visitors to Singapore compared to 2006, with strong double digit growth from key markets like the UAE (20%), Saudi Arabia (12%), and Kuwait (13%).
"Singapore's safe environment, coupled with our strong network of family-friendly attractions such as Sentosa Island, the Singapore Science Centre, the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari have made us a firm favourite for travellers from the Middle East," said Jason Ong, Area Director, Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board.
"With the introduction of more family friendly attractions such as the Singapore Flyer, the world's largest observation wheel and the upcoming Integrated Resorts, we are confident that Singapore will remain a firm family favourite destination for countries in the GCC," he added.
