The newly formatted edition of the newspaper hit the stands on 14 May with comprehensive changes to both design and content, including a colour layout, a new daily supplement, and two weekly supplements.
The 'Five Senses' daily supplement will focus on local and global entertainment news while the weekly Friday supplement 'Maraya' will present news and editorial on politics developments. 'Masarat,' that appears every Sunday, will specialize in local and international cultural affairs to give new impetus to the UAE's cultural life.
Abdullatif Al Sayegh, CEO of AMG, said: 'The relaunch comes in response to the evolution witnessed in all sectors of UAE society, as well as the unique combination of multiple cultures in the country. We recognized the need for a daily newspaper that is capable of understanding the needs of such a diverse audience. The new Al Bayan will use an international style news coverage, while retaining its special flavour that readers are used to.'
Da'en Shahine, Editor in Chief of Al Bayan, said: 'The continuous need to cater to our sophisticated readers and to offer them a medium for receiving the most up-to-date information is the prime reason behind our re-launch. We aim at readership not only in the UAE but regionally as well.'
The new design and content of Al Bayan will enable increased depth of coverage. Al Bayan has signed up some of the most prominent journalists and writers from the Arab world, who will initiate debate and offer fresh insight through their editorial columns.
Ahmed Al Hamadi, Managing Director of Awraq Publishing, said: 'Coupled with the re-launch of Emirates Today as Emirates Business 24/7 earlier this year, we boast a holistic offering of great caliber. This success has prompted us to expand our reach to encompass an Abu Dhabi edition, distributed in the country's capital as well as Al Ain. The re-launch of Al Bayan is only a logical step in our path towards providing readers with a publication that caters to their needs.'
Al Bayan was founded in 1980 and is the oldest Arabic daily newspaper in the UAE.
