IFSB declares ICD as an 'Associate Member'

The Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) has recently been admitted by the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) as an 'Associate Member'.

IFSB declared ICD's membership on April 2nd, 2008 according to IFSB Council's approval made in its 12th meeting held on 26 March 2008 at the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah.

IFSB, which is based in Kuala Lumpur, serves as an international standard-setting organization that promotes and enhances the soundness and stability of the Islamic financial services industry.

IFSB also conducts research and coordinates initiatives on industry related issues, as well as organizes roundtables, seminars and conferences for regulators and industry stakeholders.

Based on this, ICD has now been added to the 20 Associate Members of IFSB whose total membership reached 164 members including regulatory and supervisory authorities as well as the Islamic Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, Bank for International Settlements, Asian Development Bank, and a number of market players and professional firms from 22 countries.
